Index Template

A minimal portfolio and blog theme for Kirby. List your work, write when you want.

Index is a Kirby theme for designers and developers who want a clean way to list their work and write about it. Think of it as a table of contents for your professional life: not a portfolio system with case studies and menus, just an index. A few highlighted projects, a list of everything else, and a blog.

It is built for updating, not for building. Add a project in the Panel, write a post, done. There is no menu and no case-study structure, because that is where portfolios tend to stall.

Two colours, one background and one text, with everything else derived by opacity. Geist Sans and Geist Mono ship with the theme, self-hosted. RSS feed, XML sitemap, breadcrumbs, meta descriptions and Open Graph fields are built in. The blog can list posts as an index grouped by year or as a continuous feed. Every post can carry a reply-by-email link. One stylesheet, zero JavaScript, no build step.

Version 1.2 from August 2026 is a design pass: one size, one weight, hierarchy by opacity, real italics, typographic blockquotes, and syntax highlighting removed.

Index is open source under the MIT licence. The code, installation guide and changelog are on GitHub. A live demo runs at index-theme.sans.supply. Kirby itself is free for local development and needs a licence for a live site.
